Mitchell Joseph Bogdanovich (Mitch),passed away peacefully on Friday, December 18, 2020, at the age of 73. Mitch was born on March 14,1947 in San Pedro and was a resident of San Pedro his entire life. Mitch is survived by his high school sweetheart Barbara Ann Poole of 50 years. They were married in San Pedro on June 13, 1970. Mitch was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Mitchell and Margaret Bogdanovich. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Barbara Ann; sisters JoAnn and Barbara Bogdanovich; children Joseph Mitchell (Cynthia) Bogdanovich and Wendy Ann (Patrick) Di Leva; his grandchildren, Austin and Savannah Bogdanovich and loving nieces, nephews and extended family members. Mitch graduated from San Pedro High School in 1965, and was then employed at American National Can Company for over 30 years, served as a union representative of United Steelworkers Union. After his retirement, still wanting to be active, Mitch enjoyed working part time at Kritter Corral in Harbor City as he was an animal lover and soon realized how pet owners are a special breed of their own. During this time, he truly enjoyed spending his lunch hour at his mother's house and spending quality time with her. Eventually, Mitch worked part time at the cruise ships terminal for Metro Shores to escort passengers who needed assistance, mostly handicapped to board and disembark the cruise ships. Mitch felt the passengers appreciated his assistance whether blind or handicapped in anyway. He also found out his co-workers were mostly retired classmates. Mitch's passion loved being near the water whether taking out his own boat to Catalina Island or using his pontoon boat on Lake Hemet in the San Jacinto Mountains. Mitch and Barbara owned their vacation home at Lake Hemet Campground for over 20 years and shared it with close friends and family. Mitch was truly an outdoorsman and loved travelling with his beloved wife and children. Due to COVID-19, the funeral services will take place outdoor in the parking lot of Mary Star of the Sea Church: 877 W. 7th Street, San Pedro on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, with visitation at 9:15 am followed by mass at 10:00 am. Burial to follow at Green Hills Memorial Park.
