Well-known Real Estate Broker, Marie Miller passes at 80

Marie Miller, 80, of Blue Bell, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Presbyterian Hospital, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania surrounded by her loving family. Born August 25, 1937 in Norristown, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Mary Ethel Skelly and the late Albert J. Rupton, and the loving wife of Gary Miller.

Marie was born and raised in Norristown, and a 1955 graduate of Norristown High School. She worked as a songwriter, then a waitress and became licensed in Real Estate in 1972. She was one of the first female Realtors in Norristown starting her career at Phoenix Realty and eventually moved to Biggins, Shore and Guerra, becoming a named partner with Biggins, Shore and Guerra-Miller Associates in Blue Bell in 1985. Focusing on New Home Sales she represented several well-known builders for a wide area of subdivisions. She built a large new homes division creating a sales team of successful agents whom she personally trained and guided. By 1989, she was the sole owner of the re-named company Miller Shore and Guerra, Inc. She was tenacious, inspirational and dedicated to her business which provided well for her family.

In the early 1990s, after suffering a heart attack at 53 and a downturn in the new homes market, she re-focused her business, becoming the award winning Century 21 Marie Miller & Associates real estate firm. In 1999, as the market became challenging once again, she joined a conglomerate of Century 21 companies in Delaware, Chester, Montgomery and Bucks counties called Century 21 Alliance. The company became the number one C21 firm in PA. She prided herself on inspiring sales associates to become their best. Her greatest joy was watching her agents receive awards and achieve their dreams. In 2014, Century 21 Alliance sold to Long and Foster Real Estate and Marie stepped back from a forty two year career, while maintaining her real estate license until her passing.

Marie was a member of the Pennsylvania and National Associations of Realtors, as well as the Montgomery County Association where she was a new Agent Instructor in the 1980’s and served on various committees, such as Grievance and Professional Standards. She became Realtor of the Year early in her career, and served two terms as President of the Century 21 Brokers Council of PA.

In addition to her husband, Gary Miller, she is survived by her three children, Kathy (Rick) Opperman, Linda (Stephen) Nogar, and Louis (Rosalyn) Marchegiano; six grandchildren, Danielle Marie (David) Burkavage, Nicole (Jarryd) Bauder, Alaina Marie (Timothy) Rayer, Kaila Nogar, Vanessa Miller-Marchegiano and Nicholas Albert Marchegiano, three great-grandchildren, Christian, Skylar Rose & Jack. She also had three step-daughters: Doreen Lange, Robin Sobotka, and Betty Ann Vrchota. She had five step-grandchildren, Roxanne (John) Iatarola, Wayne Kriebel, Jared Law, Matthew & Gracie Vrchota. She also had four step-great grandchildren, triplets: Ava, Angelina, Julianna Iatarola and the newest, Michael Kriebel. Marie is also survived by nephews Rick Rappatone, Mark (Shannon) Ford, and niece, Kristin (Matthew) Rappatone Caba and their children, her great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Albert Rappatone, and her step-son Gary Miller Jr.

Marie loved to travel, read Nora Roberts, enjoyed her second home at the beach, watch Fox News, Wheel of Fortune and Judge Judy. She lived a full and joyous life, highly dedicated to both helping others succeed in real estate, and enjoying her family who adored her very much.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday morning, May 4, 2018, from 8:30 am 10:45 am, at the St. Helena Church, 1399 Dekalb Pike, Blue Bell, Pennsylvania. Mass will follow the viewing at 11:00 am at the church. Burial will take place in the St. Patrick's Cemetery, East Norriton, Pennsylvania 19401.
