Gelonda Jean Johnston, 73, of Lapeer (formerly of Madison Heights and Detroit) died Friday, May 26, 2017.
Jean was born in Harlan County, Kentucky to Dewey and Lilly Durham. Jean worked for General Motors over 30 years. She was a machine operator at Fisher Body Turnstead and also worked many years at the Coldwater Road Plant. Above all, Jean loved her family.

Jean is survived by her husband Gerard "Jerry" Johnston; children: Wendy (Mike) Marcum of Grand Blanc and Mark (Wilma) Johnston of Shawnee, KS; four grandchildren: Anthony Winn, Felicia Winn, Mya Johnston and Mason Johnston; one great grandbaby, Christian Winn; sisters: Faye Teem of Georgia, Millie McElroy of Taylor and Patty (John) of Southfield. Jean is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her eight siblings and her parents.

Visitation will be 2-8PM Monday, May 29, 2017 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Jean's funeral Mass will be 11:00AM Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Church, 814 West Nepessing Street, Lapeer, MI 48446. Father Douglas Terrien will officiate. Jean's family will receive friends from 10-11AM at the church the morning of the service. Burial will follow at Mt. Loretto Cemetery, Lapeer.
