Robert B. Marshall, IV, 60, of Aberdeen died April 26, 2017. He was born in Havre de Grace, MD, the son of Robert B. Marshall III and Isabella England Marshall. He was raised and educated in Cecil County, living in the same home of the three preceding Robert B. Marshall's in the area known as Battle Swamp. Upon graduation from Perryville High School in 1974, he joined the U. S. Marine Corps. Later returning home in 1979, he began his career working with his father, the owner of Harford Lanes. After his father's passing, Bobby assumed ownership of Harford Lanes in 1993.
Focusing his attention on the youth at Harford Lanes, Bobby began building on an already successful Junior League program. Through simple innovations, he created a thriving program with over 200 bowlers by the early 90's and kept it there through the early 2000's.
Bobby was an active member of the bowling community, serving on the Maryland Tenpin Bowling Council in 1994. He served as Vice-President, By-Laws Chairman, and eventually served as President in 2008.He joined the Board of the Eastern Maryland Junior Bowling Association, now known as Cecil-Harford USBC Youth Board; eventually serving as President in 2000. Bobby served as a member, eventually becoming President of the Maryland State Bowling Proprietors Association.
Bobby's primary focus was tournaments, especially the International Family Tournament. He served on the national BPAA Tournament Committee from 2000-2010. Bobby spent a lot of time travelling to help develop and conduct many tournaments, believing in good rules, formats, prize funds and in fairness for both low and high average bowlers.
As a life-long bowler and proprietor, and an active member of the bowling community, Bobby was inducted into the Maryland State USBC Association Hall of Fame for his outstanding achievements in the game of American Tenpins, in the Meritorious Category. He was also a member of the Cecil-Harford Bowling Association for Superior Performance and Meritorious Service.
He was also an active member of The Rotary Club of Aberdeen serving on the Scholarship Committee, organizing the Rotary Bowling Fund Raiser and weekly delivered their joke of the day.
Bobby is survived by his wife of two years, Kristine Wilkinson and her children Tyler, Stacie and Danielle Klunk. He leaves his devoted mother, Isabella. He also leaves a brother Cory and his wife Deborah, of Port Deposit, a brother Mike and his wife Valerie of Dayton, Ohio and a sister Susan and her husband Alan Wright of Powder Springs, Georgia. Bobby is also survived by seven nephews and nieces, (who will be serving as pall bearers) and one great nephew. He was predeceased by his father and his wife Connie Jewell.
