Steven Francis Neuman

Steven Francis Neuman was born Feb. 14, 1951 at, he would say with a smirk, "the Lebanon Library" which is the former Lebanon Hospital. Steve was an adventurous man with many talents.

After graduation from high school, he set off on his motorcycle to see the country, and ended up in Montana where he worked as a hand on a cattle ranch.

He joined the United States Army in 1973. Steve grew up around a Czechoslovakian grandfather who spoke little English, his language skills secured him a position as a German interpreter. He was honorably discharged in 1976. He attended Portland State University for a bit, but realized he was a "hands on" person.

Steven worked as a chimney sweep complete with top hat and coat. He had the opportunity to try a new adventure when a friend mentioned a packing house in Bend for sale. Steve and his friend owned and operated the Crooked River Meat Packing Company for a number of years.

After selling the Packing house, Steve's construction skills landed him a job for a year and a half building the now Weston Hotel on St. John. Time in the Caribbean afforded Steve opportunity to pursue his passion for treasure hunting and later, stateside, gold dredging.
Every opportunity Steve had, the neighbors knew he was headed in search of gold when his camper-laden truck and trailer would go down the road, windows wide open, and the music of the Indiana Jones Theme filling the neighborhood air waves.

Steve worked for Georgia Pacific Corp. in Halsey for 17 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Al Neuman and Daisy Goergen, and his sister, Veronica Trejo. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, his daughter Tracey Pezo and her husband Mike from Las Vegas. His daughter Alicia Malone and her family Dave Buck, son Jackson, and soon to enter the world, Lucas Steven, from Maryland. His stepson Matthew Moore, wife Gwen, sons Brandon and Austin from Montana, stepson Mike Moore of Hood River, stepdaughter April Williamson, her husband Bryce, and family Abbey, Morgan and Arlynn of Veneta. His kitties Andy, Emma and Spencer who snuggled him and made him laugh. His brother Val Neuman and his wife Lynne of Lebanon, and sister Beverly Hopkins of Albany.

Steve trusted and gave his life to the saving love and grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ a year and a half ago. That same Jesus lovingly wrapped His arms around him and showed him that glorious Resurrection Sunday sunrise we had from the other side.

A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church in Brownsville, OR on July 15, 2017 at 2:00 PM.

Contributions may be made to Huntington's Research, or the Hospice House in Albany, in care of Fisher Funeral Home, 306 SW Washington St., Albany, OR 97321.
