Martha M. (Carey) McAleer, 72, of Warwick, passed away on February 3, 2017. She was the wife of William H. McAleer for 50 years.
Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Edward H. Carey and Dorothea (Marran) Carey. Martha lived in Warwick for 42 years.
Martha was employed at Agnes E. Little School, St. Peter School, the RI Council on Alcoholism, and the RI Family Shelter in Warwick. She retired from the RI Family Shelter in 2007.
She was the mother of the late Monica A. McAleer. In addition to her husband, Martha is survived by her son, Kevan C. McAleer and his wife, Stephanie Egan of East Greenwich; her daughter, Megan P. Payne and her husband, Stephen of Cranston; and her beloved grandson, Jack A. Payne.
Martha cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandson, Jack. She loved the beach, antiquing, knitting, and crafting. She was an avid reader and enjoyed conversation and passionate debates about politics and current issues.
A private service and burial will be held at Mount St. Mary's Cemetery in Pawtucket, RI. In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates contributions in her memory to The Alzheimer's Association, RI Chapter, 245 Waterman St., Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906.
