Neil Alan Kluver, age 83 of Randolph, died on Monday September 26, 2016 at Colonial Manor of Randolph. He was born on a farm near Platte Center, Nebraska on September 7, 1933, the son of Roy and Lucille (Langan) Kluver.

Neil spent his entire youth in Platte County. He graduated from high school in 1951 and attended one year of college, where he met his wife Karen (Clark), before entering the United States Navy. He served in the Naval Air Corps and was honorably discharged in 1955.

Neil received a Bachelor of Education Degree in 1957 and a Master of Arts Degree in 1962 from Wayne College. He received a Master's Degree in Education in 1965 and his Administrative and Supervisory Degree from the University of Nebraska in 1968.

Neil coached and taught for three years in Walthill and South Sioux City. He moved to Randolph in 1960 and was a teacher and coach. In 1965 became Superintendent of schools and remained in that position for 28 years. He retired in 1993, and was named "Superintendent of Schools Emeritus" and received a distinguished service award from the Nebraska High Schools Activities Association. He was a member of V.F.W. Post #5291 in Wayne, American Legion Post #113 in Randolph, and the Elk's Lodge in Yankton.

In 1996 Neil was elected to the Randolph City Council, serving as its President until 2005; he served as the Mayor of Randolph from 2005 to 2010.

Neil was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Karen; his daughter Sally.

On July 27, 2009 Neil married Trudy Daw, she survives, as do Neil's 3 daughters; 4 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 1 Sister Ruth (Woody) Widhalm of Ozark, MO; 1 Stepson Steven May of Omaha; 1 Step-Grandchild Aiden May of Omaha.

Military Rites: Alvin Kessler V.F.W. Post #5545 and American Legion Post #113 of Randolph, NE
Visitation: 3-8 P.M. Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Home – Randolph, NE
Officiating: Reverend Howard Rasmussen
