Darrell Lee Wells, age 87, of Davison, formerly of Ortonville, died Friday, August 26, 2016. Darrell was born June 17, 1929 in Pontiac, to Martillow Sanford and Ethel Hazel (Brooke) Wells. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Mr. Wells served in the U.S. Army from 1948-1952, receiving the rank of Corporal and received an Occupation Medal (Germany). Darrell worked as a welder in structural welding for most of his life.
Mr. Wells is survived by his brother: Donald (Nancy) Wells of Davison; sister: Trudy Hill of Lapeer; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Martillow and Ethel Wells.
A memorial service for Darrell will be held 11:00A.M., Monday, August 29, 2016 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer, followed immediately by military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post #16 Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:00AM, just prior to the memorial service. The Rev. Sarah Parks will officiate the service, his cremains will be interred at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Suncrest Auxiliary, 1455 Suncrest Dr., Lapeer, MI 48446.
