Funeral Services for Mr. Lee Roy Gunter, age 83, will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 11 o'clock in Bland Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5-7 pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Gunter, a native of Saluda County, died Sunday, July 24, 2016. He was a son of the late Fuller Olen and Grace Stone Gunter. Lee Roy retired after 33 years as an employee of Smith and Waters Trucking Company (Mt Vernon Mills). He lived most of his life in the Johnston area, served in the National Guard of South Carolina and was a member of Johnston First Baptist Church .
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 64 years: Nellie Rae Norris Gunter; son; Randy Gunter; daughters: Vonda Hall (John), Gale Corley (Phil) and Janice Mears (Julian); sister: Bunny Geisiking; five grandchildren: Elizabeth Eppes, Katherine Peiper, Scott Corley, Sgt. Kale Mears (Ret) and Heather Corley; seven great grandchildren: Jackson, Carter, Skylar, Devin, Addie, Thomas, and Evan. He was predeceased by one brother and four sisters.
