Walentyna "Wallie" (Troyon) Koch, RN., 75, of New Britain the beloved wife of 54 years to Franz Koch passed away unexpectedly on July 2, 2016 at her home. Daughter of the late Alexander and Anna (Kozatchenko) Troyon, Wallie was born in the Ukraine and became a New Britain resident in 1949. A graduate of New Britain High School, Wallie went on to receive her Bachelor's in Nursing from the Waterbury Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a RN at New Britain General Hospital and the former New Britain Memorial Hospital before opening Wallie's Early Start Daycare which she operated for the past 32 years. She was an active member of St. Peter Church in New Britain and a former member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Church.
Wallie was an avid UCONN basketball and Rock Cats baseball fan. Each season she looked forward to seeing friends and the good times each game brought. She had an insatiable passion for learning and reading which she instilled and shared with not only her family but her extended daycare family. Her greatest reward and accomplishment year to year was seeing the many children graduate her daycare with their above average performances and solid foundation to enter kindergarten.
Her legacy to family and friends is the meaning of love, the importance of personal responsibility and the reward of hard work which will be greatly missed by those who knew her well. The void created by her absence will be deeply felt, but her love and the memory of her beautiful life will live in our hearts forever.
Besides her husband Franz, she leaves her daughter, Debora Koch of New Britain; her daughter and son-in-law, Korrie & Scott Sprong of New Britain; three grandchildren who outranked her children as her utmost pride and joy, Shaun Koch, Evan Sprong and Asher Sprong all of New Britain; many brother and sister in laws; and numerous nieces and nephews. Walentyna was predeceased by a son, Kevin Koch and a brother, Fedor Troyon.
A Memorial Service will be celebrated Saturday, July 30th at 10am at St. Peter Church, 98 Franklin Square in New Britain. Respecting Wallie's wishes there will be no calling hours; everyone is asked to proceed directly to the church Saturday morning. Burial will be private. Carlson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Peter Church, 98 Franklin Square, New Britain, CT 06051 or the New Britain Public Library - Children's Department, 20 High Street, New Britain, CT 06051.
