NOBLESVILLE, IN-David M. Stahl, 71, former Alexandria resident, passed away as a result of heart complications at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis on Thursday, July 14, 2016.

He was born on January 1, 1945 in Norwich, Norfolk, England to William "Chick" and Joan (Lincoln) Stahl. David was a graduate of Alexandria-Monroe High School-Class of 1963 and he attended Butler University. He retired from Guide-Lamp in 1993 as a Journeyman Tool and Die maker. In 1993, he founded and operated Dynamic Engineering in Westfield. David was an accomplished musician on the alto saxophone. During his sophomore, junior and senior years at Alexandria-Monroe High School, David received consecutive scholarships to the prestigious Interlochen Music Camp and Festival in Michigan. Concurrently, during his Junior and Senior years at Alexandria, David played in the Ball State University orchestra. He received a full music scholarship to Butler University.

Helping others has been the focus of David's life. He was involved in rescuing dogs and horses. Where he stabled his horses, David encouraged inner city kids and even nursing home residents to come ride and learn of the beauty of God's creation, the horse. Because of his love of horses and horsemanship, he affectionately was given the nickname "Cowboy Dave."
