Reta Grace Martin, 82, of Hadley, died Sunday, June 12, 2016.

Reta was born November 30, 1933 in Goodrich, Michigan to parents Willis "Bill" and Eva (Hammond) VanAlstine. Reta graduated from Lapeer High School, class of 1952. She married John "Jack" Martin on August 18, 1952 at the First Presbyterian Church in Flint. Reta worked 32 years at Ross Automotive Supply in Lapeer. During her 32 years Reta wore many hats including: bookkeeper, counter clerk and parts buyer. Reta was an avid bowler, puzzler and enjoyed taking family photos. She made the world's greatest lemon merengue pie. Above all, Reta was mom to her four boys.

Reta is survived by her sons: Brian (Sandra) Martin of Metamora, Kevin (Kathy) Martin of Sierra Madre, CA, Neil Martin of Hadley and Patrick (Kathy) Martin of Waldorf, MD; eight grandchildren: Tanya, Melissa, Pennie, Heather, Brendan, Ryan, Stephanie and Michael; six great grandchildren: Michael, Jacob, Mariah, Alyssa, Hailey and Violet; two sisters: Yvonne (Roy) Griffith of Prescott, AZ and Eva May (Tom) Nass of Lapeer. Reta is also survived by many nieces and nephews and extended family members. Reta was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Martin; sisters: Zoe Gearhart and Jeanette Pratt O'Morrow and her parents.

Visitation will be 2-4/6-8PM Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Reta's funeral service will be at 11:00AM Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Muir's. Pastor Bob Service will officiate. Burial will be in Hunters Creek Cemetery, Lapeer.

Memorials may be made to the Hadley Historical Society or the American Diabetes Association.
