Jerald P. Fix: 2015 2015

PEORIA – Jerald P. Fix passed away, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, May 23, 2016 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. He was born on January 25, 1929 in Springfield, IL to Margaret (Ushman) Fix and John Fix. He enlisted in the Navy with his best friend in 1946 where he served in voice radio in Manila, Philippines and also served on the LST 842. He worked for Cilco for 42 years as a substation repairman retiring in 1991.

He married Shirley Brandvig Miller, on October 7, 1950 at Union Congregational Church, where they were both members. Jerry had been a member of the former Parkview Church in Peoria, serving on boards and singing in the choir at both churches.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; brothers, Tom (Huong) Fix of Orlando, FL, Ray (Pat) Kennie of Westchester, IL; daughters, Sharon Miller-Miller of Peoria, Julie (Bob) Ledbetter of Chillicothe; son, Randy (Bambi) Fix of Columbus, OH; 5 grandchildren, Deanna (Glenn) McCurdy, Debbie (Jeff) Barnes, Brad (Jen) McClure, Kristina McClure, Michelle (Royal) Randall; 6 great-grandchildren, Shawn, Erin and Kamryn McCurdy, Sydney and Ellie Barnes, Zach McClure; 2 step-grandchildren, Anthony Luzier, Angela (Anthony) DeCanio and 2 step-great-grandchildren, Ana and A.J. DeCanio.

He was true to his name in that he could "fix" and build anything. Jerry was a person who would help neighbors, friends and family whenever they needed it and had opinions that he was not shy about sharing!

He had a quick wit, was quite a hard worker and was always on the go. He will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, May 26 at the Wilton Mortuary from 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour before services on Friday. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m., Friday, May 27 at the funeral home with Rev. Stephen Barch officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Union Church in Brimfield.
