Gary Charles Truba, 80, of Lapeer, (formerly of Detroit) died Sunday, May 22, 2016.

Gary was born September 22, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan to Merle "Bud" and Patricia (Russell) Truba. He graduated from St. Leo's High School (Detroit, MI), class of 1954. Gary served his country proudly in the US Army during the Korean War. Gary owned and operated Gary Truba & Associates - professional manufacturer's reps working in the automobile industry. Gary's interest included woodworking, golfing, boating, gardening and watching Carter play hockey. He was a member of the Indian Guides (YMCA), Automotive Boosters Club and the Lions Club of Lapeer. Gary was a great cook and baker with a particular passion and expertise at baking pies. Gary was also known for his love of animals, particularly dogs and absolutely most of all, his best friend Riley – who will miss Gary immensely.

Gary is survived by his wife, Theresa Truba; six children: Sandra (Todd) Brewer of Metamora, James Truba of Greenville, MI, Carolyn (Jeffrey) Taylor of East Grand Rapids, Mary (Jim) Patnaude of Lapeer, Colleen (Michael) Finocchio of Grand Rapids and Tanya Pung of Lapeer; twelve grandchildren: Stephen, Katie, Neil, Kyle, Sam, Derrick, Carter, Nick, Sydney, Hayden, Sullivan, Mason and Sean; four great grandchildren: Emery, Eila, Charlie and Dana; brother, James (Betty) Truba. Gary was preceded in death by his beloved first wife Kathleen Theresa (ne, Condra) Truba on April 8, 1983; sister, Lynn Willerer; his parents and his aunt & uncle, Loretta & Frank Lengyel.

Visitation will be held from 2-5/6-8PM Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The rosary will be prayed 7PM Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Gary's funeral Mass will be 11:00AM Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Church, Father Doc Ortman will officiate. Military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post #16 will immediately follow Mass. Burial will be in Mt. Loretto Cemetery, Lapeer.
