Frank Charlie Smotek

Frank Charlie Smotek, 87, of Snook went to his heavenly home on February 4, 2016. Visitation will be Thursday, February 11 from 9am-11am at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville. Service will be 11am, Thursday, February 11, at Strickland Funeral Home, with interment following at Snook Cemetery.

Frank was a Father, brother and uncle who will be missed dearly. He was the kind of man that never met a stranger, always knowing how to make people comfortable, and was always quite entertaining, he could tell a good joke. He is remembered for his great sense of humor, and took such great pride in cooking what most called the best bar-b-que brisket they ever had. He loved gardening, being outdoors and sitting in the sunshine. He retired at the age of 80, he was always known as a hard worker. He proudly served our country as a Marine, a Veteran of Foreign War. He worked at United Plastics in Houston, Texas until he retired from there, but went on to work for ISSC Security, till he was 80 years old. He then moved to Sealy Texas where he resided until June 2015 at The Oaks Retirement Community. There he spent his time gardening plants, flowers and vegetables. He also enjoyed having backyard bar-b-ques. He was always so proud of his beautiful Sunflowers, as they reminded him of his mother growing them as well. He definitely will be remembered for his "green thumb." He was very proud of his Czech Heritage. He spent his remaining time at Legend Oaks West Skilled Nursing Facility in Houston until his passing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Smotek and Annie Vajdak Smotek, brothers, Walter Smotek, Albert Smotek, Willie Smotek, Edmond Smotek, sisters, Lillian Ottmer and Olga Rousset.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, sons, Frank "Chuck" Smotek and fiancé, Mary Nooner, Joe Smotek, daughters, Barbara Smotek-Cathey and husband Glen, Angie Smotek, grandchildren, Jesse and Michael Vasquez, Liela McQuarter, Justin Tayara, Clara Smotek, Kaitlyn Smotek, brothers, Jerry Smotek, Johnnie Smotek, sisters, Margie Faust, Ann Swonke, Janet Zan and numerous nieces and nephews who were all very special to him.

Our family would like to give a special thanks to the staff from A Med Health Care Group. They were there for us and our father before and during his passing, bringing much comfort and peace. We are so very grateful for the whole team.

Pallbearers will be Jesse Vasquez, Michael Vasquez, Glen Cathey, Kenny Nash, Chris Ware and Howard Faust.
