Myrna Lea Vollbrecht, age 88 of Stanton, died on Saturday January 16, 2016 at her home in Stanton. She was born April 5, 1927 at Primrose, Nebraska the daughter of Chester and Belle (Corder) Bourn. She graduated from Belgrade High School in Belgrade, Nebraska and graduated from Wayne State College.

On April 11, 1953 Myrna married Harley Vollbrecht at Zion Lutheran Church in Leigh. Myrna was an Elementary School Teacher for 44 years, 4 in Boone County, 11 in Leigh Public Schools and 29 in Stanton County. Myrna was a member of national, state and local education organizations. She held all offices in the local Educational Association and was presented an honorary life membership in the P.T.A. while teaching in Leigh. In 1992 the Omaha World Herald honored Myrna with a plaque for outstanding devotion and ability in the art of teaching. She was elated when former students came to visit and write.

As a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Myrna taught Sunday school, served as church Librarian and served with St. John's Ladies Aid. She was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post # 3602 of Stanton, serving as State President in 1970 – 1971. Myrna was appointed by Governor Benjamin Nelson to the State Library Commission and served 6 years. A member of Stanton Library Board, Stanton Public Library Foundation, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Chapter 8 of Norfolk as Charter President, a life member of Stanton Historical Society

Surviving Myrna is her sister Joyce and Grover Bartlett of Grand Island and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her parents, husband Harley on January 12, 1994, sister and brother-in-law Lois and Harold Imus.

Private Family Inurnment: Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery – Norfolk, Nebraska
Memorial Visitation: 10:30 A.M. until service time at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Stanton under the direction of Shultz-Vogel-Johnson Mortuary in Stanton.
