Catherine Whitley Bradley, daughter of the late Lavinia and Nero Whitley began her journey on April 10, 1921 and transitioned to her new home on November 3, 2015. Catherine was the third of four children, three who predeceased her, Leonard Whitley, Pearl Whitely and Nero Whitley, Jr.
Born and raised in Chester, Pennsylvania, Catherine was a life-long resident and attended the public schools. Reared in a Christian home, Catherine joined Shiloh Baptist Church and was baptized at an early age under the pastorate of the late Rev. E. B. Morris. Catherine joined Providence Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. J. A. Jordan in 1936. Here she remained faithful and dutiful. She worked diligently in many organizations including, the Deaconess Board, Senior Choir, Sr. Usher Board, Parents' Club, Committee of Concern, Prayer Band and Group Leaders. Catherine met and married the late Owens Bradley. From this union six children were born, Thyra Bradley, Jennifer Bradley, Rosita Bowman, Owens Bradley, Jr. (deceased), Darlene Bradley (deceased) and Kenneth Bradley (deceased). Catherine was a homemaker and spent most her time with her family. She loved to decorate her home and that of her family and friends. She also loved to garden and cook. She was known for her beautiful flowers and meticulous lawn. She took great pride in her home.
