Jose Guadalupe Mendoza Rodriguez
Born December 12, 1922 in San Pedro, Mexico.
Jose passed away peacefully at Mee Memorial hospital where he had lived for the last eight years. He was married to Cirilia Santillan Mendoza for 55 years when she passed on December 28th, 2002. Jose is survived by his five children: Genoveva Mendoza, San Juana Mendoza, Maria Mendoza, Francisco Mendoza, and Cecilia Esquivel. He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, two brothers, and many nieces and nephews.
Jose lived in Soledad for most of his life and was a hard working man. He worked out in the fields almost all of his life. He was involved in the United Farm Worker Union movement, actively participating for the improvement of farm working conditions. Before coming to Soledad, he and his family lived in Edcouch, Texas. He and the family moved to Soledad in 1966. He enjoyed taking care of his plants, trees, and liked talking to his neighbors and others in the area. He also loved to talk to his grandchildren and spoil them with treats.
He will be missed and remembered by his family and friends
