ALEXANDRIA, IN-Jerry L. Simison, 72, passed away at his residence on Friday, July 10, 2015 following a 10 month illness.
He was born on September 15, 1942 in Elwood to Charles and Bonnie (Brewer) Simison and lived in the Alexandria area most of his lifetime. He attended Alexandria High School and received his high school diploma while serving in the United States Army from 1960 to 1962. He retired from General Motors in Anderson in 1999 after 37 years of employment. He was a member of the Elwood American Legion, the Alexandria Eagles #1771 and the former Yule Men's Golf Club. Jerry enjoyed golfing, camping, playing cards and most importantly spending time with his family.
Survivors: Wife-Sally (Strano) Simison-married July 1, 1961 Son-Jeff Simison-Alexandria 4 Daughters-Lori (Mark) Amick-Elwood, Debra (Jeff) Bailey and Amy Simison all of Alexandria, Kelly (Jim) Cody-Fishers Grandchildren-Audra (Chad) Vandergrifft, Adrianne Hiday, Amy (Brad) Robinson, Rich (Tiffany) Watson, Ashlee (Ben) Pierce, Drew Simison, Beau (Bridget) Bailey, Chuck (Lacie) Bailey, Tiffany (Mark) Pardue, Zach (Dani) Whiteman, Katelyn Mesalam Great-Grandchildren-Satien, Elijah, Donna, Sadie, Lucy, Owen, Carli, Aaliyah, Aria, Tyler, Fenix, Kinley and Colt. Brother-Dennis (Lisa) Simison-St. Louis, Missouri Special Friends-Barb and Kimble Gibson-Summitville Nieces and nephews Special 4-legged companion-"Mickey Poodle"
He was preceded in death by his parents, Brothers-Robert Simison, Jim Simison and Steve Simison
Services honoring Jerry's life and legacy will take place at 1 pm on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 in the Owens Funeral Home, 412 North Harrison Street, Alexandria. Rev. Courtley Granger will officiate. Interment with military honors by the Elwood American Legion and the United States Army will follow in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria. Friends may call at the Owens Funeral Home on Monday from 4 pm to 8 pm.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Cardiac Rehab Program through the Community Hospital Foundation with envelopes available at the funeral home.
