Samuel Dana Yeaton, 84, passed away May 5th, 2015, after a long, recurring illness. Born in Epsom, New Hampshire, he spent his final years with the girl from just down the road, Lucy Jones, summering in their hometown and wintering in Edgewater, Florida. When his condition became critical he was moved to Southeast Volusia Care Center in Edgewater, where he died peacefully, surrounded by his four children.

Dana to some, Sam to others, he was known to all as a gentle and generous man, with a wry sense of humor. He loved animals, the woods, fixing things and flying his plane. He was an excellent marksman and an ingenious designer who took special pleasure in celebrating the achievements of his family and friends.

Dana grew up on a dairy farm, the son of Maurice and Nettie Yeaton. In 1948, he graduated from Pembroke Academy, New Hampshire, and began training as a draftsman, and later, as a mechanical engineer. He built his first house by himself, using lumber he cut and hauled with horses on his father's land.

In 1972, he founded an engineering firm in Littleton, New Hampshire. His work ethic and sense of fairness inspired loyalty among his employees. When he retired, on the day before his 60th birthday, Dana passed the company along to his protégé, Wayne Fillion, and then watched proudly as Wayne and the business continued to thrive – as it does today, under its original name: Yeaton Associates, Inc.

He served 34 years in the Army National Guard and retired as a 1st Lieutenant/Master Sergeant, E-8.

Dana is survived by his brother, David Yeaton, and his stepbrothers, Bruce Reeves and Kevin Reeves. He leaves four children from his marriage to Sally Witman: Dena Yeaton, Dulcie Witman, Dana A. Yeaton, and Dirk Yeaton; three stepchildren from his marriage to Dolores Beernaert: Lynne Beernaert, Scott Beernaert, and Lisa Beernaert; grandchildren Denae Gendron-Mallari, Tanya Witman, James Yeaton, Edd Breault, Vanessa Dunleavy Yeaton, Benjamin Yeaton, and Elizabeth Yeaton; great grandchildren William Gendron, Veronica Iris Bates, and Mason Gendron-Mallari; step grandchildren Mary Lynne Moore, Cheryl-Ann Yianakolopos, and Wendy Dawn Yianakolopos; step great grandchildren Kylee LaLanne, Carter Moore, and Mia Moore. He was predeceased by his sister, Glenna Nutter, his stepbrother, Robert Reeves, and his granddaughter, Nicquelle Gendron.

The Yeaton family would like to express their gratitude to the hospice staff and volunteers whose compassionate care brought comfort and dignity to his final days. Donations in his name could be sent to the Southeast Volusia Care Center, 4140 South Ridgewood Ave., Edgewater, FL, 32141, and would be warmly appreciated.

Dana's memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM at French & Rising Funeral Home 17 South Mast Street, Goffstown, New Hampshire on October 24, 2015. His ashes, will be interred at Westlawn Cemetery, next to the love of his life, Dolores Beernaert.
