Robert Andre' Simpson was born on April 16, 1944 in Bessemer, Alabama, to his proud parents, Ora Louise Lewis and Robert Simpson. When Robert was three, his family migrated to Detroit and ultimately to New York City, where he was raised. Robert was affectionately known as Bobby to his favorite Aunt Mae. However, his siblings and family called him Bob, while his friends called him "Stomper." Bob earned the name "Stomper" because he grew up acknowledging that his survival was contingent upon being rough and tough at heart. As a child and the oldest of four siblings, Bob was not only the protector of his family, but is remembered by them as being fun loving and somewhat of a jokester. He was also very much a nurturer, a leader and a role model. Bob was a "man's man" who grew up holding his own in his community. His strong character developed as a result of the many leadership roles he achieved as he matured through the years, such as his leadership role in the cadets, his church activities, and his active military role as a paratrooper in the 82nd airborne of the United States Army from July 1962 to June 1965.

Two years later, on June 17th, 1967, Bob married his soul mate, Odessa Louise Worrell; then moved to Detroit, Michigan, and remained in that loving relationship until his death on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015. In 1968, Bob and Odessa were blessed with a son, David Reginald, who proudly followed in Bob's steps by serving in the U.S. Navy. He was honorably discharged in 1993.

Bob spent 13 years with Ford Motor Company as a line supervisor. Because he always had a heart for helping others, he moved further and earned his Master's degree from University of Michigan in 1989. Subsequently, as a clinical therapist for the state of Michigan, he counseled substance abuse and mental health clients. He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Odessa; his son, David; his granddaughter, Delinah; two siblings, Mary L. Rutledge, Deacon Eric Hysmith; and sister-in-law, Dr. Carole Hysmith. Bob also leaves to mourn his aunt, the Rev. Mae Wyatt; and his cousins, Deacon Curtis Wyatt, Christine Wyatt, Lorrain Puryear, Rev. Dr. Alphonso Wyatt, Debra Wyatt, and Ouida Wyatt. Bob will also be missed by a host of other relatives, including nieces, nephews, cousins and log-standing friends from his community in Detroit.

Rest In Peace, Robert Simpson
