Evelyn E. Massey of Everson, passed away at Stafholt Good Samaritan on Saturday, March 14, 2015. She was 93. Evelyn was born in Pickering, Missouri, on March 19, 1921, to Roy and Nellie Belle Killam. Evelyn, along with her parents, brother Herbert, and sister Pauline, moved to the family farm in Sumas when she was a teenager. She graduated from Nooksack Valley High School, lettering in basketball and baseball. Evelyn married her high school sweetheart, Walter Ross Massey on November 9, 1940. Somehow she managed their home and farm while raising six children. Evelyn was a dedicated member of Sumas Advent Christian Church volunteering where ever she was needed.
Evelyn was a beloved mother and mother-in-law to Dwayne (Carolee), Ronald (Mary Ann), Mareen (Jeff), Kim (Allison), Lance (Janell) and Denise (Jeff). She was a loving grandmother to 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Memorials in Evelyn's name may be sent to Stafholt Good Samaritan Society Center, 456 C. Street, Blaine, WA 98230.
A memorial service is being held on Saturday, April 11, at 2:00 PM at the Sumas Advent Christian Church, 125 Front St., Sumas, WA with a reception following.
