Richard " Dick" Boutwell, 77, of Ashburnham, died peacefully Sunday evening, March 8, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Dick was born in Nashua, NH, December 3, 1937, a son of the late Myron and Velma (Holden) Boutwell, and has lived in Ashburnham all his life. Dick married his beloved wife Paula A. (Badstiibner) Boutwell September 3, 1960, and together they shared over 54 years of marriage.

Dick was the owner of Boutwell's Garage. He is a long time member of the Ashburnham Community Church and a former charter member of the Ashburnham Lion's Club. Dick was an accomplished athlete. He is a member of the Fitchburg High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Dick enjoyed watching and playing sports, and especially loved watching his grandchildren playing sports. He enjoyed driving in old cars, and his 1931 Model A Ford. Dick also enjoyed traveling with Paula to many places. Dick will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Besides his wife Paula, Dick will be missed by his three children; Marcy L. Smith of Westminster, Kimberly A. Wilson and her husband Mark of Westminster, and Richard W. Boutwell and his wife Cher of Ashburnham, one brother; Robert Boutwell and his wife Patricia of Hickory, NC, one sister; Ruth Hunter of Orange, VA, ten grandchildren, Danielle and Chaz Smith, Alex, Tommy, and Breanna Loomis, Nicole Sweatman, Matt Wilson, and Lauren, Brian and Julia Boutwell, one great grandchild; Gavin Sweatman and several nieces and nephews. Dick was predeceased by one brother Charles Boutwell.


You are invited to attend calling hours in the Fletcher-Hebert Funeral Home, 70 Pleasant St., Winchendon, on Thursday March 12, 2015 from 5-8PM. His funeral service will be held in the Ashburnham Community Church, 9 Chapel St., Ashburnham, on Friday March 13, 2015 beginning at 11AM. Burial with Military Honors will be held in the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St., Winchendon Friday March 13, 2015 at 1PM. Should friends desire, donations in Dick's memory may be made to the GVNA Hospice, 34 Pearly Lane, Gardner, MA 01440.
