Helen Claire Lawler White, formally of Greens' Farms, Connecticut and Willsboro, New York, died peacefully in her sleep, Wednesday evening, March 4, in her home at 3030 Park Ave - The Watermark, Bridgeport, Connecticut. She was the wife of Thomas S. White, Jr. (deceased) and loving mother of two sons, Mark Thomson White (deceased) and Frank Carpenter White of New Lebanon, New York. She also leaves a daughter, Christine White Babson and her husband Rob of Medfield, Massachusetts and two granddaughters, Esther of Silver Springs, Maryland and Margaret of Medfield, Massachusetts plus many beloved members of the Lawler, White and Elliott families.
Mrs. White attended Roanoke College and was a graduate of Maryland College for Women, Class of 1949 with a B.S. in Merchandizing and an A.A. from Toby ColburnCollege of Business. She was employed by L. Bamberger and Company in Newark, New Jersey where she met her husband. Mrs. White was a president of the Green's Farms Garden Club, served on the Altar Guild of Trinity Episcopal Church in Southport and was a member of the Pequot Yacht Club and Country Club of Fairfield. Her enthusiastic approach to life was infectious and she will be sorely missed by her family, many friends and virtually anyone with whom she came into contact. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church and the Connecticut Audubon Society. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 651 Pequot Ave., Southport, CT 06890 at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 30, 2015.
