Dorothy was born on November 27, 1927 in South Dakota, to Henry and Jennie (Vander Molen) Kuiken, and passed away peacefully at St. Joseph Hospital, in Bellingham, WA, on January 27, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald, in 2005.
Dorothy was a life-long active member of First Reformed Church, in Lynden, and worked for the Lynden School District as secretary at Fisher Elementary School for 22 years, prior to her retirement.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Doug (Don McDermott) Ausink, Duane Ausink, Debra (Harold) Coleman, and Dennis (Irene) Assink; brothers, Dick (Judy) Kuiken, Gerrit Kuiken, Henry Kuiken, and Eugene (Sylvia) Kuiken; grandchildren, Ryan Hubby, Chris (Tosha) Hubby, Todd (Christyna) Assink, and Katie (Marshall) Norman; great grandchildren, Payton, Maisen, Karsen, Rylee Hubby, Megyn and Levi Norman, and Cayden and Sadie Assink; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Friday, February 6, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Gillies Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held 11:00 am, on Saturday, February 7, 2015, at First Reformed Church, 610 Grover St., Lynden, WA. Memorials in Dorothy's honor may be made to First Reformed Church, or your favorite charity.
