Richard Carl GUMP, 66, of Bridgeport, OH, died Saturday, December 20, 2014 at his home.
He was born August 4, 1948 in Fairmont, WV, a son of the late John and Lillie Ann Rice Gump.
Richard was retired from the former Blaw Knox Foundry in Wheeling, was a Methodist by faith and was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by 8 brothers; Robert, James, Fred, Lester, Chester, Ray, Bud and Jack Smith and a sister; Kathy Weisgerber.
Surviving is his wife, Barbara Kay Britton Gump, daughter Amanda Getchey and her husband Jim of Wheeling, stepson; Michael Chieffalo of Yorkville, stepdaughter; Tracy Murad and her husband Chris of Wheeling, 3 brothers; Ralph Smith of Wheeling, Thomas and Larry Gump both of Wheeling, 2 grandchildren; McKenna Gump and Olivia Getchey, step grandson; Tim Mirandy, stepgranddaughter; Kira Murad and his beloved cat of 13 years, Betsy.
Friends will be received on Monday, December 22, 2014 from 3:00pm until 8:00pm at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff St., Wheeling, where services will be held on Tuesday, December 23 at 1:00pm, with Rev. Bryan Carpenter officiating.
Burial will follow in Halcyon Hills Memorial Gardens, Sherrard, WV, with full military honors with the Moundsville Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Assoc.
