Evangelist Gladys Lavetta Bragg was born to Andrew and Willie Green on November 27, 1920 in Moorhaven, Florida.

She was one of 12 children, spending a majority of her formative years in West Palm Beach, Florida. She graduated from Industrial High School and shortly thereafter married her childhood sweetheart, the late Elder Robert Lee Bragg. They remained married for over 57 years until the Lord summoned her husband home to glory.

After her husband's calling to the pastorate, Holy Mountain Church of God in Christ was founded thus establishing a sunday school where lessons were taught in the living room of their home. Affectionately called Mother Bragg during these early years, she worked diligently by her husband's side with her acknowledged missionary call and service as the first church mother. As the congregation grew, the church location changed in order to accommodate the increasing membership: 1417 Witherspoon Street in Rahway and finally to 220 East Grand Avenue in Rahway, New Jersey where it is presently located.

As co-founder, Mother Bragg's missionary zeal became more apparent. She worked at both the local and state levels within ecclesiastical jurisdictions with State Supervisors in the Women's Department. At the state level, she was a member of the Ministers Wives Circle and the We Twelve, a meeting of churchwomen engaged in Christian fellowship and outreach. During Mother Lucille Bazemore's tenure as Jurisdictional Supervisor of the 1st Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, State of New Jersey, Women's Department, Mother Bragg served on her Executive Board and participated in Mother Bazemore's monthly Unity Meetings. She traveled to Haiti twice and was heavily involved in mission's work which led to the support of an adopted Haitian child. She also received the Anne L. Bailey award, an award highlighting Mother Bragg's contributions locally, nationally, and internationally. She was also very active in the community and a member of the National Association for Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW).

At Holy Mountain, Mother Bragg organized the Missionary Board, Junior and Senior Ushers, Hospitality Board, Pastor's Aide, Young Women's Christian Council (YWCC), Scholarship Committee, Nurses Unit, the Children's Choir, named the Robert L. Bragg Youth Ensemble, and adopted the scripture: I Corinthians 3:9 - "For we are laborers together with God."

In the early 70s, she began conducting yearly revivals at the church where many young people and adults were saved and received salvation. Some of her messages were: He Will Keep You as the Apple of His Eye" and "It Is Now Time for Deliverance" accompanied by some of the favorite songs, "Lord, Revive Us" and "Send on the Rain."
