Carolou Yelverton Ward was born April 5, 1945 in Huntsville, Texas. She died on November 26, 2014 , after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Carolou was preceded in death by her husband and high school sweetheart, Larry Ward, parents, Thomas and Margaret Yelverton and brother, Mark Yelverton. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Brenner and husband, Steven, her grandchildren, Jack and William Brenner, her brothers, Thomas and wife, Mary Allen, Andrew and wife, Loretta, sister in law, Linda Vogt and husband, Jim, and many nieces and nephews.
Carolou attended Waltrip High School where she was in the Imperial Guard and the University of Houston. She began her career at Anderson Clayton and then worked at Ranger Insurance Company. Carolou stopped working to be a stay at home mother to her daughter, Jennifer. Later, she worked at Bellaire United Methodist Church as a preschool teacher. She also served as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher. She enjoyed being a Camp Fire leader to her daughter's group at St. Mark's Episcopal School. Carolou worked in Spring Branch I.S.D. at Nottingham and Rummel Creek Elementary. She worked at Republic Realty as an administrative assistant. She retired from the City of Pasadena, where she was the City Council Secretary.

Carolou was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She always had a smile and a funny story to share with others to brighten their day. This is the time of year to be thankful. We are thankful and cherish the years that we had with Carolou and are thankful that God took her to be with him. She will be dearly missed. Special thanks to Plantation Personal Care Home for providing wonderful care to our loved one for many years. We appreciate the care and guidance given by AHMED Hospice.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. A celebration of Carolou's life will be held graveside at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 1, 2014 at Forest Park Lawndale. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association.
