Amelia Martini, age 93, of Calcutta, Ohio passed away on Friday, October 24, 2014, at the Hospice House in Boardman, Ohio after a lengthy Illness.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pa. on March 1, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Vincent James and Julia (Vecchione) Scenna. Mrs. Martini had lived most of her life in Wheeling, W.Va. before moving to the East Liverpool area in 2006.
Mrs. Martini enjoyed cooking, entertaining friends and decorating for the holidays. She was a Christian Mother and a member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Parish in Wheeling .
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Martini on, February 20, 1988. They were married on July 16, 1953.
Survivors include one daughter, Rena Schooles, two sons, Tony Martini and Robert Martini all of East Liverpool, Ohio. One sister, Jean Ferrante of W. Palm Beach, Florida, and one grandson, Christopher Winesburg of West Chester, Pa.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Armand Scenna and a grandson, Scott Winesburg.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday , October 28, 2014 at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church in Wheeling with Rev. Fr. Douglas Ondeck as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger Street in Wheeling on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the St. Alphonsus Parish, 2111 Market Street Wheeling, W.Va. 26003.
