JOSEFITA MABLE THOMAS
Memorial services for lifelong Cortez resident, Josefita Mable Thomas will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 24 at the Cortez Church of Christ. Pastor Rob Hall will officiate.
Josefita was born on January 4, 1931 in McPhee, Colo. the daughter of Jose Daniel Martinez and Vencinta (Herrera) Garcia. She passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Vista Grande Inn. Josefita was 83 years old.
Josefita was a member of the Church of Christ in Cortez. In her free time Josefita enjoyed crocheting. She was a wonderful cook who loved to bake.
Surviving Josefita are her children, Catherine Turner and husband, Terry of Cortez, Marisa Martinez and husband, Tim of Grand Junction, Colo., and Patrick Turner of Flagstaff, Ariz.; two grandchildren; her sister, Rita Martinez of Cortez; her special niece, Bertha Bole of Cortez; her friends, Barbara Presley of Cortez, Allan and Eileen Bugg of Cortez, and Barbara Webb of Texas; along with numerous nephews. Josefita was preceded in death by her parents; and by her siblings, Herman Herrera, Alex Herrera, and Johnny Herrera.
