Gauthier, Jr., 66, of Gardner, died peacefully Tuesday October 21, 2014 in Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, after an illness. Wilfred was born in Gardner, May 10, 1948, son of the late Jean W. and Agnes (Borey) Gauthier, and has lived in Gardner most of his life. Wilfred proudly served his country during the Vietnam War, with the United States Navy. He was a long time member of the Gardner Deep Sea Club, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 747 of Gardner, and Ovila Case Post 905 VFW of Gardner. He enjoyed fishing and playing cribbage. Wilfred was also a fanatical Nascar fan; he never missed a race. Wilfred will be missed by his two sons; Jean W. Gauthier, II of Gardner and Phillip Gauthier of Gardner, one brother; Michael Gauthier of Athol. five sisters; Christine Gauthier of Ashburnham, Linda Martin of Winchendon, Lois Boshans of Fitchburg, Marilyn Hammonds of Athol, and Marieanne Flagg of Canby, OR, and three grandchildren. Relatives and friends are planning to attend a calling hour in the Lamoureux Fletcher and Smith Funeral Home, 105 Central St., Gardner, on Friday October 24 2014, from 11AM-12PM. Military Honors will be held in the Chapel of the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Glenallen St., Winchendon, On Friday October 24, 2014 at 2PM.
