ALEXANDRIA, IN- Ruth Louise Hieatt, 92, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2014 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus, Indiana following an extended illness.

She was born on October 18, 1921 in Summitville to Ernest and Gladys (Ellingwood) Allen and has resided in Alexandria for most of her lifetime.

Louise was a graduate of Alexandria High School-Class of 1939. She loved school children and her job of 45 years as secretary of the Marie Thurston Elementary School now re-named the Alexandria-Monroe Elementary School. Louise retired at the age of 78. She enjoyed working and keeping records for the family farm and small businesses operated with her husband. In their early married years, they owned and operated the Alexandria Bowling Alley. She loved working in her yard and flowers, playing games and cards, feeding and watching birds, telling and laughing at jokes, and bowling. Louise bowled at least once a week until the age of 83.
Louise was a member of the First Christian Church of Alexandria and the former Alexandria Lioness Club. She held several offices in the Alexandria Bowling League. She was a former member of the Alexandria Eagles Auxiliary and the Alexandria Garden Club. Her family was very important to Louise.

Sisters: Lucille May and Evelyn Lynch both of Alexandria;
Brother-Larry (Barbara) Allen of Anderson
Nieces and nephew, Shirley (Rich) Semon, Mike Lynch (Dawn Mumaw), Jenny Binford all of Alexandria and Susie (Mike) Carpenter of Anderson;
Several great-nieces and great-nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 41 years-Robert D. Hieatt Sr in 1984, her son-Robert D. Hieatt Jr. in 1993.

Services honoring Louise's life will take place at 3 pm on Monday, October 20, 2014 in the Owens Funeral Home, 412 North Harrison Street, Alexandria. Pastor Julia Bratton will officiate. Interment will follow in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria. Friends are invited to call at the Owens Funeral Home after 12 Noon on Monday prior to the services.
