Rebecca Moore Rochester, 66, moved from time to eternity on Sunday, September 21, 2014.
She was born on December 9, 1947, the youngest daughter of James Clyde and Eleanor Brissey Moore. She graduated from Travelers Rest High School (1965) and attended Furman University.
Becky's entire career was a mixture of music jobs and office jobs varying from receptionist to Administrative Assistant. Through office jobs, she learned the value of having structure in her life, setting and attaining specific goals, and following instructions. In the course of her music jobs, she learned to create her own structure, setting and attaining goals of entertaining people, and having only minimal instructions to follow. Becky also learned to accept her fluctuating emotions from loving the audience to tolerating the audience, all the while continuing to love the music.
After 35 years of piano/vocal jobs in the Greater Greenville area, Becky's health began to decline, necessitating her retirement from public music performance. However, she then became pianist for her church, bringing great joy into her life. She was jubilant to become closer to God through her work in the church and her Disciple Bible Study classes.
In addition to her parents, Becky was predeceased by a sister, Jaqueline Moore Bricco, and a brother-in-law, Eddy de Armas.
She is survived by a sister, Laura Moore de Armas and several nieces and nephews. Her love for her sister Laura colored her entire life, and at her life's end, she loved Laura as she had when Becky was three years old and learning to read at Laura's "school." Becky's cat Chree lived to be 21 years old and, until Chree's death, was her constant companion in the home.
God, family and music – these three are the legs of the tripod on which Becky built her life. She tried to walk the narrow path, and love and treat everyone the same, and she sinned enough to recognize the true grace and mercy of God when He forgave her.
Becky asked that you remember her with love because of her joy in sharing her music with you. Remember her with mercy for the times she sinned against you. Remember her with happiness knowing that she now is happy as well.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2014, immediately before the memorial service at 7 p.m. at Mountain View United Methodist Church.
Members of the Choir and of Becky's Disciple Bible Study, and their spouses, will have seating reserved directly behind the family.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Mountain View United Methodist Church, 6525 Mountain View Road, Taylors, SC 29687, and designate it for the "Piano Fund."
