Peggy B. (Barnes) Davenport, 88, of Winchendon, died peacefully September 11, 2014 in River Terrace Rehabilitation after an illness.
Peggy was born in Bradford, VT, January 9, 1926 daughter of the late Elmore M. and Beatrice (Moore) Barnes. Peggy worked for Mount Wachusett Community College as a bookkeeper for many years. She proudly served her country during WWII with the United States Navy. Her beloved husband Richard H. Davenport died in 2011.
Peggy will be sadly missed by her two sons, Richard J. Davenport and his wife Maria of Fitchburg and James H. Davenport of Winchendon, six grandchildren; Kenneth W. Davenport, Benjamin C. Davenport, Jennifer L. Davenport, Amanda L .Davenport, Gina M. Craig, and Laura B. Davenport, and two great grandchildren; Nathan M. Craig, and Alaina L. Shepherd.
It being her request the funeral service is private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Montachusett Veterans Outreach Center, 268 Central St., Gardner, MA 01440.
