Roslyn (Jacobs) Kaufman, of Middletown, passed away on Tuesday, September 2nd in Middletown. She was born in New Haven CT on June 22, 1919. After graduating from High School with a business specialty, Roslyn worked as a young woman at Cooley Chevrolet in New Haven, CT. In 1947, she married Irving (Leo) Kaufman a decorated Seabee World War II Veteran. Roslyn moved to her new home in Middletown, CT where she lived for the rest of her life. For many years, Roslyn helped her husband run his business" I Kaufman and Son Painting Contractors." She also worked for Hallocks Furniture Store located in Middletown. Roslyn was a member of Congregation Adath Israel Synagogue for sixty-six years and was a lifelong, committed Democrat who worked at the polls during numerous election cycles.

In her later years, Roslyn liked spending time with friends and neighbors. She immensely enjoyed meeting with a very special group of Middletown older residents that gathered almost every day at the McDonalds on South Main Street. She also enjoyed visiting local restaurants with her friends and family. Roslyn's greatest quality was her non judgment of most people regardless of their station in life.

She is survived by her two daughters, Judith Kaufman and her long time partner, Denis Demers of Cornish, NH and Ellen Kaufman of Essex, CT and her wonderful nieces and nephews Joan, Douglas, George, Beryl, Richard, Jonathan, and Peter.

She was predeceased by husband, Leo Kaufman; her parents, Charles and Esther (Swilling) Jacobs; her siblings, Viola, Bessie, and Jack and two nieces, Bunny and Susan.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 3rd at 2:30 pm in Adath Israel Cemetery, 714 Pine Street, Middletown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roslyn's memory to the Congregation Adath Israel Synagogue, P.O. Box 337, 8 Broad Street, Middletown, CT 06457.

Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Street, Middletown is handling the arrangements. Messages of condolences may be sent to the family at www.doolittlefuneralservice.com.
