Costeller Deloris Street, 80, of Newark, New Jersey, departed this life Tuesday, August 26, 2014. Born on November 4, 1934 in Louisburg, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Eddie and Mary Willie Alston.
Costeller was a long time resident of Newark, where she lived since leaving her childhood home in Creedmoor, North Carolina. She was employed as a school crossing guard with the Irvington Police Department for many years. Costeller loved spending quality time with the family. She enjoyed cooking for them when they visited her home.
Costeller is survived by: two daughters, Patricia Alston of Newark, NJ and Margaret Moore of Irvington, NJ; five grandchildren, Ticia Alston, Julia Alston, Erica Moore Bohler (Dorian), Christopher Moore, and Karlton Moore; five great grandchildren, Tyshanna Alston, Louis Alston, Amariy Howard, Dorian Bohler Jr. and Ailani Small.
Costeller is also survived by: seven siblings, Johnnie Alston of Durham, North Carolina, Anthony Alston (Lorraine) of Durham, North Carolina, Herman Alston (Joyce) of Newark, NJ, Marjorie Lyons of Morristown, NJ, Helen Shareef (Wahyun Deen) of Morris Plains, NJ, Hannah Tillett of Morristown, NJ, Christine Smith of Irvington, NJ and Barbara Minitee of Columbus, NJ; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
