Cadillac - Lois Marie Weston of Cadillac formerly of Manton passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Sunnyside Senior Living in Cadillac. She was 88.
Lois was born on May 19, 1926 in Ferndale, Michigan to James and Minnie (Bowman) Keillor. Lois graduated from Pontiac Central High School with the class of 1944 and continued on with County Normal Teaching College, graduating in 1945. She began her teaching career in a one room school house in Deford, MI. Lois entered into marriage on March 2, 1946 in Caro, MI to Donald Jack Weston. Later Lois worked with the housekeeping department at the Lakeview Manor in Cadillac, the Irish Inn Restaurant in Manton as well as in assembly for Manton Industries. Lois could often be found knitting and crocheting hats and mittens, berry picking, and canning. She also loved playing scrabble, watching Nascar and dancing and was an active member of the Thick and Thin Club at the Manton Senior Center.
Lois is survived by her loving family Donald (Sandra) Weston of Kingsley, MI, Richard (Anita) Weston of Newton, IA, Helen (Chuck) Brostek of Sterling Heights, MI, Jacquelyn (John) Gomez of Manton, MI, Mark (Christine) Weston of Fenton, MI, Glenna (Mike) Tidey of Manton, MI, Wayne Weston of Hersey, MI, Leona (Thomas) Gregg of Manton, MI, Gail (Brian) Snow of Howard City, MI, Brian Weston of Manton, MI, Scott (Tammy) Weston of Waterford, MI, Teresa (Greg) Lutke of Manton, MI, Jere (Steven) Green of Manton, MI, 41 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and many other loving family members, neighbors and friends.
Lois was preceded in death by husband, Donald Jack Weston; son, Thomas Weston; granddaughter, Donna Kroskey; grandson, Joshua Weston; son-in-laws, Harold O'Dell and John Foor and special friend, Robert Bright, as well as her parents.
Visitation for friends and family will be held on Friday, August 29, 2014 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Hitesman-Holdship Funeral Home in Cadillac. Funeral services for Lois will also be conducted at the funeral home in Cadillac at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 30, 2014 with Chaplain Rick Kiekintveld officiating.
As a special tribute to Lois and to enrich the time together at the funeral home; friends and family are encouraged to bring a favorite photo of Lois or a memory shared together to display. Boards will be available to place your photo along side others both Friday and Saturday.
A private interment will be held in Liberty Township Cemetery.
