HELEN L. MASSARO (Avisati), a North White Plains resident, entered into eternal rest surrounded by her family on August 20, 2014. She was born on February 4, 1926. She was 88 years old. She was pre-deceased by her parents: Lucy (nee Amoriello) and Antonio Avisati and step-father Anthony Pizzonia. She married the love of her life, Dominick Massaro, on February 9, 1947. He pre-deceased her in 1984. She had one brother, Richard Pizzonia, who also pre-deceased her. She is survived by her loving children, Dominick (Yvonne), Larry (Lynette), and Marian, two cherished grandchildren, Vincent (Anna) & Jennifer, two precious great grandchildren, Isabella & Matthew, sister-in-laws Helen (Massaro) D'Angelo & Joan Pizzonia, and countless cousins, nieces and nephews. She graduated from White Plains High School, was a secretary at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla & then a bookkeeper for Massaro Construction Company. She was a member of the Rosary Altar Society & a proud parishioner at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Valhalla. She was also an active member of the Armonk Adult Club where she enjoyed making beautiful ceramics and spending time with good friends. She was an avid traveler, visiting places from the Grand Canyon and Alaska to Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. And traveled to Europe several times where she loved visiting with family in Bassiano and Latina, Italy. In her later years, she loved spending time with her loving family, grandchildren, great grandchildren and countless friends. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home, Hawthorne, N.Y. on Thursday from 7-9PM and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9PM. Funeral Mass, Saturday 10AM at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Valhalla, N.Y. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Greenburgh, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Name of Jesus Church in Valhalla, NY.
