Lillian Ann McDaniel Davis was born May 17, 1923 in Freeman, West Virginia. She transitioned from time into eternity on July 31, 2014 at the age of 91. Mrs. Lillian, as she was affectionately called, lived 79 of her 91 years in Freeman before relocating to New Castle, Delaware and subsequently to Newark, Delaware.

Lillian was the last survivor of 7 children born to the late Lena Walker McDaniel and Henry Gusta McDaniel. During her childhood years she was a member of Bluestone Baptist Church, Bramwell, West Virginia and subsequently joined Jones Chapel United Holy Church, Freeman, West Virginia as an adult. Jesus Christ was truly the center of her life and she testified about His love, grace and mercy to everyone she met. Regardless of the interaction she had with you, her conversation always included something about the goodness of Jesus. You always left her presence being inspired by her faith, wisdom and humor. She was truly a great woman of God.

On October 18, 1943, Lillian was united in holy matrimony to the late Carl (Bashie) Davis. Four children were born from this union, twin daughters Shelia (deceased) and Sylvia, son Richard (Tip) and daughter Deborah.

Lillian was an employee of the West Virginia Retired Senior Volunteer Program. After retirement she volunteered her services to nursing homes, senior centers, Churches, and anyone who needed a helping hand. During her lifetime she received numerous awards for her volunteer service from governmental and private agencies. She was a champion for obtaining equal rights for the disabled, especially the blind and devoted a lot of her time to this cause.

Lillian leaves to cherish her memory her children Sylvia Davis, Richard Davis (Carolyn) and Deborah Cooke (Patrick) all of Newark, Delaware; Grandchildren Geneen Washington (Arthur) , Media, PA, Ashley Wiggins, Wilmington, DE, Richard Davis, II , Secane, PA and God granddaughter Brittainey Houi of the home; Great grandchildren Zayne Washington, Chicago, IL, Brandon and Alexis Wiggins, Wilmington, DE; Niece Jacqueline Stiger, and Nephew Earl Dickerson (Rose), Columbus, OH; Sister in laws Julia Robinson, Dorothy Smith and Viola Bryson, Columbus, OH and Shirley Coleman, Gahanna, OH; Brother in laws Elwood Davis, Bronx, NY and Earl Davis, Bluefield, WV; lifelong friend Margaret Hairston and a host of other relatives and friends.
