Manchester---Wendell K. Palmer, Sr. passed away July 30, 2014, at the Elliot Hospital with his loving family by his side after a short illness.
He was born in Franklin, NH on July 26, 1914 to the late George and Mildred (Keniston) Palmer. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed time spent with his family. He recently celebrated his 100th birthday at Ridgewood Center where he lived for the past year and a half. He also lived in Concord, NH in his early years and Manchester, NH later. He worked his entire career for the Boston & Maine Railroad in various positions, including freight agent, until retiring to enjoy traveling with his wife
He is survived by his daughters, Sandra Rhodes and husband Norman, Donna Morse and husband Donald; his son, Wendell K. Palmer, Jr. and wife Carol; and son-in-law, Robert Platek; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 2 great great-grandchildren
He was predeceased in 1999 by his wife loving wife of 60 years, Dorothy (Emerson) Palmer; his daughter, Wendy Platek; two sisters, Pauline Palmer and Tressie Garrison; and a brother, Wayne Palmer.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2014, from 1 to 3 pm followed by a funeral service beginning at 3 pm at Goodwin Funeral Home, 607 Chestnut Street, Manchester. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
Wendell's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for care provided during his residency at Ridgewood Healthcare Center.
