LOTZ, Howard Joseph "Bud" II, 86, of Wheeling, W.Va. died Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Wheeling Hospital.
He was born on September 1, 1927, in Wheeling, a son to the late Howard Joseph Sr. and Betty (Duffy) Lotz. He previously served at St. James Lutheran Church for 53 years assisting in many activities including Young Life. He was presently an active member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church delivering communion to many of the elderly members of the church. He was also a 32nd Degree Freemason with Lodge #5 in Wheeling. He retired from Nickles Bakery in 1984 after many years as a regional sales executive. While at Nickles Bakery, he was proud of the corporate sponsorship with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Bud Loved sports and his animals. He served as a petty officer in the U.S. Navy in the Invasion of Okinawa during WW II and also served in the Korean War.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Jean Goff, Several brothers –in-law and sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.
Bud is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jeannie (DeLuca) Lotz; one sister, Helen Hubbard; one sister-in-law, Lillian Upperman; one son, Howard "Buddy" Lotz III; nine nieces; two nephews; and many friends.
Friends will be received on Friday, August 1, 2014 from 1-4 and 6-8 pm with masonic services at 7 pm, and Saturday, August 2, 2014 from 11 am - 12:45 pm at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger Street, Elm Grove. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 1 pm at St. Mark's Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul Schafer officiating. Interment will follow at Belmont County Memorial Park.
