His friends – and he had many – called him "Bill". He grew up on the family dairy farm in Mohler on the Oregon Coast. Both his parents, Agnes and Charles; as well as his brother, Edgar have passed on.
He met Pat Prentice in 1952 and they were married on July 12, 1953. After living on the coast for two years, they moved to Albany and continued to live the Albany-Corvallis area until his death.
He and Pat raised their 3 children, Jeff, David, and Linda in the valley. Faster than they could realize, those children grew up and gave them five grandchildren. Bill was born to be a grandpa. He was so patient and always had a lap for them. His grandchildren are Brock, Creed, Alyssa, Kelsey, and Ethan. Nearly six years ago, Bill was presented with his first great grandson, Phoenix.
Bill loved his family, friends, golf, fishing, and any sport on TV; especially the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a member of Springhill County Club for 40 years.
He worked in the plywood industry until 1962 when he went to work for Prudential Insurance. He retired from there in 1988.
Bill was a much loved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and uncle.
After a very brief illness, Bill left this world on July 6, 2014.
At Bill's request, there will be no formal service. Later this summer a small family celebration of his life will be held.
Bill will be greatly missed by all who loved him, especially by Pat, the one he called "Ma".
