Celebration of life services for lifelong Mancos resident, Verna Jane Yeomans will be held at Jane's home 217 S. Walnut Street in Mancos on Sunday, July 27th beginning at 2 p.m. Friends and family are welcome to come and go at their leisure.
Jane was born on May 21, 1924 in Mancos, to Ralph Haralson and Florence Edith (Anderson) Weaver the youngest of 10 children. She was raised in Mancos and graduated from Mancos High School in 1942. She passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at her home in Mancos at the age of 90.
On May 10, 1943 Jane married Wilfred "Fred" George Yeomans. Fred was still in the Army, and they moved to California where their seven children were born. When Fred passed away in 1967, Jane moved back to Mancos where she raised her four youngest children. She graduated from the Vo-Tech School with a beautician degree and worked as a beautician for a few years. For many years after that she worked at the Mancos Drug Store until she retired. Attending her children's and grandchildren's basketball games and other events were moments she just loved. Spending time in her yard and gardening were favorite pastimes as well. Jane adored her dog Chico. She was known as an excellent cook and seamstress.
Surviving Jane are her children, Freda Yeomans-Clay and husband, Robbie of Kauai, Hawaii, Richard Yeomans and wife, Cindy of San Ramon, Calif., Jan Yeomans-Schuchman and husband, Steve of Lafayette, Calif., Don Yeomans and wife, Deana of Mancos, Bonnie Miller of Henderson, Nev. and Ron Yeomans and wife, Kelli of Mancos; 10 grandchildren, Meghan Paul and husband, Jordan, Ethan Schuchman and wife, Farhana, Karassa Schaefer and husband, Dan, Brianna Yeomans, Jori Yeomans, Kole Yeomans, Garrett Miller, Haleigh Yeomans, Kaelan Everett and husband, Walter, and Kyle Yeomans and wife, Sarah; as well as 11 great-grandchildren. Preceding Jane in death were her parents, Ralph and Florence Weaver; her husband, Fred Yeomans; son, Bob Yeomans; son-in-law, Ken Miller; and all of her siblings.
