Delmas W. "Del" Kamplain, 86, of Prudenville passed away on Sunday July 6, 2014 at Munson Medical Center, Traverse City.

Del was born on November 3, 1927 in Essex, Missouri. At the age of nine he moved to Flint with his mother and learned the mechanic's trade. He served in the Army in Japan as a paratrooper during the end of WW II. On September 22, 1951 in Davison, Del was married to Donna Doris Coon, and she preceded Del in death on January 17, 2011. The couple moved from Flint to Houghton lake in 1969. Del owned and operated Del's Garage of Houghton Lake for many years. He attended Houghton Lake Baptist Church and enjoyed being a jack of all trades who could fix anything that came his way. He could be seen driving around Houghton Lake in his three wheeled car, an Urban Sports Trimuter which he had built, or on a Friday or Saturday night he would be at one of the local skating rinks, he enjoyed roller skating up to the age of 78.

Surviving Mr. Kamplain are his three daughters, Barbara (Clare) Gee of Houghton Lake, Diane (Rex) Gee of TN, and Joyce (Steve) Saxton of Midland; five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Del was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Doris Kamplain, and his mother and step father, Marguerite and Glen Bearinger.

Family graveside services for Delmas W. "Del" Kamplain will be conducted at a later date from Roscommon Township Cemetery, Houghton Lake. Memorial Contributions in memory of Del are asked to be directed to the charity of the donor's choice. Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
