Arnold Edwards, age 88, of Monroe, died Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Wellspring Health Care Center in Cincinnati. He was born June 7, 1925 in Sacred Wind, Kentucky, the son of Harrison Edwards and Deby (Blanton) Edwards. Arnold was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the South Pacific during World War II. He graduated from Berea College, Berea, Kentucky with a Bachelor's Degree and completed a Masters of Education from Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio. Arnold was a teacher and principal in Franklin City School District. He is survived by his wife, Mahala (Smith) Edwards; three daughters, Barbara Schroer (husband, Jim), Debra Edwards, Beth Edwards (husband, David Deegan); two granddaughters, Susan Ostreicher, Emily Welcker; one grandson, Michael Schroer; one great granddaughter, Rosalind Schroer; two sisters, Jewell Fields and Gloria Berg. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harry Edwards; and a sister, Mildred Fields. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 22 at the Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home with Chaplain Geoff Egbers officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Grace Memorial Cemetery.
