Leonard married the former Judy L Johnson on October 4, 1956 in Jeffersonville, IN. Leonard enjoyed time outdoors and in years past would spend time hunting and caring for animals around their farm. He appreciated the company of people and would often be found enjoying a visit with friends over a good cup of coffee. Leonard made his living driving truck and was known to many as "White Owl" by way of CB radio. Even after driving for a living, Leonard, still maintained his passion for the open road and loved going for a ride on his motorcycle.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, and four brothers and one half-brother.
