Esperanza Garcia, 80, of Soledad, passed away at home, surrounded by family, Monday, April 14, 2014.
Esperanza was born September 23, 1933 in Angamacutiro, Michoacan, Mexico and had been a resident of Monterey County for over 35 years. She greatly enjoyed cooking, gardening, raising birds, word search puzzles, and caring for her family.
She is survived by her 8 children; Bertha (Walter) Ancheta of Soledad, Leonardo (Patricia) Garcia of Soledad, Esther (Ignacio) Flores of Soledad, Martha (Javier) Trujillo of Soledad, Leticia Garcia of Soledad, Jose (Melissa) Garcia of Soledad, Laura (Jaime) Gutierrez of San Jose, Gustavo Garcia of Soledad; 20 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 4 brothers; 2 sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesus Garcia in 1999; parents, Ecliserio & Esther Chavez; brother, Roberto Chavez; sister, Carmen Chavez.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 21, 2014 from 2 to 5 pm at Woodyard Funeral Home.
Rosary will be held Monday, April 21, 2014 at 7 pm at Our Lady of Solitude Catholic Church.
Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 10 am at Our Lady of Solitude Catholic Church, followed with burial at the Soledad Cemetery.
