Jean Powell Soule, 94, of Montclair, NJ (formerly of New Britain), died April 4, 2014. She was the wife of Robert Clifford Soule who died July 11, 1998.
Jean was the mother of Richard Lawrence Soule of Las Vegas, NV and of Kenneth Clifford Soule of Richmond Hill, NY; the grandmother of Robert Aubrey Soule of Des Moines, IA, Jonathan Parker Soule of Westwood, NJ and Katherine Jean (Soule) Sage of Las Vegas, NV. She also has three great grandchildren.
Jean was born in Evergreen, AL, daughter of James Eugene Powell and Dahlia Mae Brown Powell; sister of the late Anita Powell Sanderson of Opelika, AL and of James Eugene Powell, Jr. of Birmingham, AL. She also treasured her sister–in–law, Emily Soule Roy of Demarest, NJ who died Dec. 27, 2003.
Jean moved to New Britain, CT in 1946 with her husband when he joined the Music Faculty of Central Connecticut State University. She was employed for 12 years at New Britain General Hospital in the Department of Volunteer Services, and was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church for 45 years. She and Robert moved to Chester, CT in 1991. She subsequently moved to Montclair, NJ following Robert's death to be closer to family. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in New Britain, CT at the convenience of the family.
