Roderick Holley was born on May 6, 1959 in Baltimore, MD to the late Harry G Battle, Jr. and Kenney Mae. He peacefully departed this life on Friday, December 20, 2013 at 12:06pm after a lingering illness at Christiana Hospital (Season Hospice) in Newark, DE.

"Rod" accepted Christ at age 8, was baptized and became a member of the Siloam Free Will Baptist Church in Baltimore, MD under the leadership of the late Bishop Ernest Wooten, Jr. After relocating to Delaware, he joined Cornerstone Fellowship Baptist Church and served on the Security Ministry until he was no longer able.

Rod was educated in the Baltimore, MD public schools. He continued his education at Baltimore Technical Institute (BTI) and became a licensed Certified Welder. He was also a licensed Boiler Maintenance Specialist in Washington, DC. He was employed by CSX until his health began to fail. Rod then became a trained Medical Technician and worked in Hemo-Dialysis for a short period. He loved working with the elderly.

Roderick's love for life, people and fashion gained him many nicknames such as "Hollywood", "Hot Rod" and "Player, Player". His mother fondly called him "Sunshine".

Rod leaved to cherish his memories his beloved mother, Kenney Mae Holley Stroude and his stepfather, Kenneth A. Stroude; one son, Jarrell Roderick Hester of Athens, GA; two daughters, Jessica Seymour of Baltimore, MD and Ashley Cherry of Washington, DC; an adopted daughter, Brandy Camp of Baltimore, MD; two brothers, Julius Battle of Washington, DC and Aubrey Watson (Sherry) of Rocky Mount, NC; two granddaughters, Amera and Mykale; two stepsisters, Valeris Coastes (Alonzo) of Philadelphia, PA and Cassandra Stroude Williams (Tashumble) of Nashville, TN; nine aunts, five uncles and numerous beloved cousins and friends.
