Velma Jewel Haney, of Elma passed away on Tuesday May 12. She was 87. Velma was born on April 11, 1928 in Olympia, WA to Harold and Ada (Akehurst) Hinchcliffe. She was raised in Olympia and graduated from Olympia High School.
In April of 1947 she married Elmer Elijah Haney in Boston Harbor. Together they had three daughters and one son. Velma enjoyed gardening and in later years spoiling her grandchildren.
Velma is survived by her children; Darline (Haney) Price of Elma, WA; Violet (Steve) Legacy of Elma, WA; Elmer L. (Gloria) Haney of Porter, WA; and Elizabeth (Donnie) Didrickson of Elma, WA; her siblings T. Wesley Hinchcliffe and Richard Hinchcliffe, both of Olympia, WA. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer and her parents.
A graveside service is set for 1 pm on Friday, May 15 2015 at the McCleary Cemetery in McCleary.
